Construction of a railway viaduct designed by Consulgal
The construction of the viaduct connecting the North Line and the Beira Alta Line (Pampilhosa area) is under way. Prepared by CONSULGAL, the project aims to eliminate capacity constraints and enhance operating conditions, in a context of improving the safety and viability of the railway system. Integrated in a 3,100m long railway section, of which 1,250 m are viaduct, with 2 abutments and 38 pillars, with an average height of 12m, and mostly indirect foundations, longitudinally the viaduct deck is made up of modules with three sections separated by expansion joints, with spans varying between 30 m and 33 m. The deck is being built using 2 launch beams.
The completion date of the work is scheduled for October 2023.
