In an interview with País €conómico, the Chairman of Consulgal, Rogério Monteiro Nunes, emphasised the importance of structuring projects for Portugal’s development.
Mr Monteiro Nunes said that the country needs new development infrastructures, such as the high-speed railway between Lisbon and Porto, the new Lisbon airport, and the new Oriental Hospital in Lisbon. He stressed that it was important for government leaders to make decisions, even if they were admittedly difficult, on important and necessary projects for the country.
Consulgal’s chairman also mentioned some of the major projects in which the company has been involved, such as Madeira Airport, the Porto Metro, the São Paulo Metro, and the Macau Light Rail, as well as the port of Nacala in Mozambique. He also emphasised the company’s initiative to create the “Consulgal Academy” to train and retain talent.
Consulgal celebrated its 40th anniversary in August this year and is experiencing a new period of growth, symbolised by its new headquarters in Carcavelos. Mr Monteiro Nunes said that the company went through a difficult period in the past decade as a result of the economic crisis that hit several countries, starting with Portugal. However, Consulgal is at a new moment of growth and expansion, both in Portugal and abroad.
