Description:The third bridge between Macau and Taipa Island connects the South-West of Macao Peninsula, near the Sai Van Lake, to the North-West of Taipa Island, crossing the Inner Harbour navigation Canal. This bridge was designated “Sai Van” which stands for “West Bay”. The bridge with a length of 2 500 m consists of two structurally parallel independent bridges, each consisting of a box-girder in reinforced pre-stressed concrete. It is a modernist style double deck bridge, with the upper deck containing 3 road lanes in each direction. The lower deck is intended for the use of light rail and for the road traffic in the event of occurring typhoons, when for security reasons the upper deck is closed.
