CONSULGAL – Consultores de Engenharia e Gestão, S.A. hosted the conference “New Challenges of the Blue Economy”, on April 3rd, an event that brought together distinguished experts from various fields to discuss the challenges and opportunities that the maritime sector presents for Portugal.
The panel “Challenges of the Blue Economy”, moderated by Fausto Brito e Abreu, featured the participation of Marisa Lameiras da Silva (Director-General for Maritime Policy), Assunção Cristas (Vieira de Almeida and Nova Law School), Duarte Lynce de Faria (CINAV), and Paulo Serra Lopes (Mariculture Systems Portugal). During the session, participants analyzed the evolution of blue economy indicators within the framework of the National Strategy for the Sea.
In the panel “Energy and Digital Transition”, moderated by Rúben Eiras, speakers included António Vidigal (Energy Consultant), Ana Estanqueiro (National Laboratory for Energy and Geology), José Salas Pires (Telecommunications Consultant), and Luís Bernardino (Observatory for Ecosystems and Digital Infrastructures). The discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities of the energy and digital transition within the blue economy.
The opening session featured addresses by Filipe Monteiro Nunes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CONSULGAL, and Pedro Reis, Minister of Economy.
Admiral Gouveia e Melo was the invited keynote speaker, providing a strategic perspective on the topics under discussion. The conference concluded with remarks from Carlos Costa Pina, President of Fórum Oceano, the event’s co-organizing entity.
