IBERDROLA is one of the largest companies, in Portugal, in the hydroelectric energy sector, representing more than 50% of the target of the High Hydroelectric potential National Programme.
This system consists of three concrete dams and three hydroelectric power stations: Daivões, Gouvães and Alto Tâmega. The three hydroelectric power stations are interconnected and operate jointly.

The Daivões Dam is a gravity arch dam 77.50 metres high, between elevations (153.50) and (231.00) with the Full Storage Level elevation (NPA – 228.00), and has a crest height of 264.50 metres.
The Gouvães Dam is a gravity dam with a height of 30.00 metres, between elevations (887.50) and (857.50), and has a crest height of 232.70 metres.
The Alto Tâmega Dam is a double-curvature vault dam 107.50 metres high, between elevations (210.50) and (318.00) with the Full Storage Level elevation (NPA – 315.00) and has a development at the top elevation of 332.45m.
