Description:The Paúl Water Treatment Plant (WTP) project was designed in two phases. Phase I has already been completed and is operational, featuring the raw water disinfection stage, treated water reservoir, pumping station for the treated water supply system, and the operational building. The ongoing Phase II focuses on introducing a raw water remineralisation process, necessary due to the water’s low mineral content and ph. This phase includes key treatment stages such as a CO2 contact chamber, filter feeding pumping station, CaCO3 filters, CaCO3 storage silo and replacement system, Na2CO3 storage and dosing system, and decanters for water used in washing the CaCO3 filters. Additionally, the L9 borehole and pipeline are part of this contract.
The Paúl / Monte Redondo WTP is designed to process a daily flow of 19,000 m³ over a 20-hour operating period, comparing to a treatment capacity of 950 m³ per hour.
It forms part of the Mata do Urso water subsystem and is equipped to supply treated water to the entire municipality of Leiria, serving approximately 128.640 residents.
